Seth Alverson, 09/05/14

Fri, Sep 5, 2014 - Sat, Oct 4, 2014

Opening reception: Friday, September 5, 7:00 - 10:00pm

Hello Project Gallery is proud to present Seth Alverson, 09/05/14, the first solo exhibition of Houston-based artist Seth Alverson since 2011.

Seth Alverson, 09/05/14 is an exhibition of luminously alluring and deftly grotesque oil paintings, conceptually driven by feelings of self-containment and the cyclic nature of the human condition. This exhibition poses a challenging narrative of perspective; is the viewer looking in at the world or out at it?

Seth Alverson received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Houston in 2002, and his Master of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010. Alverson had solo exhibitions at Art Palace in 2011, 2010, and 2007. He has also exhibited his work in group exhibitions, including In Plain Sight, McClain Gallery (2013); Staring at the Wall: The Art of Boredom, Lawndale Art Center (2012); Exit Strategy, White Box Gallery, New York (2011); Death of a Propane Salesman, Fort Worth Contemporary Art Center, Fort Worth, TX (2009); Group Show, Reynolds Gallery, Richmond, VA (2009); 30th Anniversary, Lawndale Art Center, Houston, TX (2009).
